Change Your Thoughts and You Change Your Self
***You Also Change Your Life***
As hard as it may be to fully comprehend at times...
You're everything you believe you are and nothing that you don't believe.

Did you ever walk into a crowded room or party and find someone who kind of had
command of the room? You know what I mean. They're the person who's
the center of attention. Did you ever stop to wonder why? Was it
that they were holding some magical powers that you didn't have???? Were
they born bigger, brighter, BETTER than you were??? Noooo of course not.
The only thing they had more than anyone else at the party was CONFIDENCE.
Yep! That's right. Good old fashioned confidence. We all know
what it is and I'm sure we've all experienced it at times in our life but I'm
just as sure that we've all experienced a lack of confidence. Personally
speaking I know that's true for me. I have run the gamut in my life from being (at one point in time) the shyest person in the room to (at other points in time) being the least shy. Confidence is a feeling that says "I belong here!" "I'm o.k. here!" I can do o.k. here"! Lack of confidence is a feeling that says "What if I say something stupid?" "What if I'm not liked?" "What should I talk about?" Do you see that the voice of confidence is affirmative statements while the voice for a lack of confidence is all questions???? Affirmations are upbeat and positive. That the affirmations are statements are POWER! Can't you just feel the power in the directness of the words??? Those words of course are what the inner feelings experienced are. The voice for a lack of confidence is so open ended. Instead of taking power over your experience at the party in your own hands (as the affirmations do) it puts it in the hands of the others at the party. Thinking and Doing are diametrically opposed to one another. Think too much and you will not "do"! Do too much and you won't have time to "think". There are times for ~doing~ and there are times for ~thinking~...but at the end of the day (metaphorically speaking) they should always BALANCE! Balance is what being HEALTHY and WHOLE is all about! O.k.! I'm going to list a few Confidence Boosters now. If you can think of any and you'd like to share them here, it would be my pleasure to just that. And of course I'd give you credit for your ideas! *S* #1....Say something genuinely nice and TRUE to someone in your immediate enviornment. #2....Say something nice (and TRUE) to a stranger! #3....Help someone! #4....Since you're reading this on the internet that means that you have access to it. Take 15 minutes out to study something you know NOTHING about. This will expand your present knowledge and give you something to draw upon incase the subject ever comes up! It will also give you a GREAT FEELING! #5...Look yourself in the mirror and instead of seeing the lines, wrinkles, freckles and/or any other things that you would consider an imperfection see your Mom's child. See the child within! See that child and give them a COMPLIMENT! Yep! That's right! Give yourself a great big ole...pat-on-the-back for something POSITIVE about yourself. #6...Wear something you feel good in. It doesn't matter what it is...just wear it! Being self conscious about clothes and how you feel or look in them can start the whole day off yucky. Tight pants or a shirt you don't like truly can be unsettling. If you dress for comfort...it will come to you! #7...Remove the word HOPE from your vocabulary. I know many people think that HOPING is a good thing...but it's actually the beginnings of a negative though wave. Forget about "HOPE"! Hope is another open ended issue. Don't hope....BELIEVE! BELIEVE and CREATE!!!!!! If you BELIEVE something will be...it WILL! And...you don't have to just sit back and "BELIEVE". You can help your Beliefs be realized by taking a hand in helping to CREATE what you want. There's a great quote that a friend shared with me a while ago (thanks greenbough *S*) and I totally fell in love with it. It's simple and yet so profound and TRUE! It is: "Faith can move mountains but you've still gotta bring your pick and shovel!" I believe the quote belongs to Eric Steele. (Thanks to Eric too wherever you are!) |
